2023-24 Information
IMPROVE YOUR SWIMMING & PLAY WATER POLO!
Many athletes begin playing water polo for the first time at the 13U level. Every year, we have a sizable contingent of new members to this group.
The only prerequisite is that participants be able to safely swim in the deep end (this usually means being able to swim 2-4 laps in a row without stopping). Please get in touch with us if you are new to the sport and unsure of your child's swimming abilities so that we can discuss and if necessary, arrange for a swim evaluation (you can reach the Technical Director at td@vortexwaterpolo.ca).
This group has practice options of 2x or 3x/week and has formal competitions several times per year (most games are held at Pan Am Pool).
Stronger and more experienced athletes are often invited to move up to 15U to further enhance their development.
13U is for athletes born in 2011-2013* (usually equates to kids in Grades 5, 6 & 7).
*Strong swimmers born in 2013 have the option and are encouraged to sign up for 13U. If you are not sure, please contact the Technical Director <td@vortexwaterpolo.ca>

All athletes will play in the MB Winter League and MB Provincials. These are excellent events to gain playing experience and the cost of playing in these events is covered by the club with support by Manitoba Water Polo and Sport Manitoba.
Families should expect one locally-based tournament later in the Fall and 3 to 5 in the new year.
Some 13U athletes are invited to also play games with the 15U program.

Association Membership: At checkout, you will be charged $76.21 for a Water Polo Canada/Manitoba Water Polo Association annual Provincial Membership (memberships are valid from Sep 2023 to Aug 2024).
Volunteer Bond: $150 (included in the above program fee which you can earn back from volunteering)
